VACATION during Spring Break,
March 21-28, 2009

Date of last edit = 07/03/2009
We stayed at the Paradise Village Resort located in Nuevo Vallarta within the state
of Nayarit in Mexico. The airport is actually located in Puerto Vallarta within
the state of Jalisco. More info about the resort can be found at the Paradise Village
website by clicking on
this link.
Tom compiled a daily journal of activities during our vacation. Although most of
the journal entires are as boring as watching paint dry, some are actually amusing
or inspirational or educational.

During our week, we learned about a philanthropic organization,
called Families At the Dump (FAD), which is sponsored by the resort.
FAD helps the impoverished families who work at the city dump.
FAD provides bottled water to the workers, and a nutritious breakfast
to their families, who live within walking distance of the dump.
FAD also runs a school within a couple blocks of the dump. The school
provides education and job training to the children of parents who work
at the dump. The dump workers earn a meager living by scavenging through
the contents of the dump to collect recyclable materials for resell to
merchants who pay the workers for plastic, aluminum, and other scrap metals.
More information about FAD can be found on their website by clicking on
this link.

Below are a few dozen thumbnail size photos from our vacation. An enlarged
